17 Seal breeding colonies
The Secretary, by determination published in the Government Gazette, may declare any area of land or of land and water in which seals breed as a seal breeding colony.
A determination under subregulation (1) must specify—
the area or limits of the seal breeding colony; and
an area within the seal breeding colony that tour vessels are prohibited from entering.
The Secretary must not make a determination under subregulation (1) unless the Secretary is satisfied that seals are breeding in, or are likely to breed in, the area or the limits of the seal breeding colony.
A determination under subregulation (1) may specify any area referred to in subregulation (2) by reference to any of the following—
a map contained in the determination;
a description of the area containing geographical coordinates;
a plan lodged in the Central Plan Office.
