Part 5Inquests into deaths

44 Other persons may appear at inquest

(1)

An interested person may appear, or be represented by a legal practitioner, at an inquest and examine or cross‑examine witnesses.

(2)

Before a coroner makes any finding adverse to the interests of an interested person, that person must be given the opportunity to present submissions against the making of such a finding.

(3)

There may be prescribed a list of persons who are interested persons for the purpose of this section, but such a list is not a conclusive list of interested persons.

(4)

A coroner may disallow any question which in the coroner’s opinion is not relevant or otherwise not a proper question.
