111 Serving sentence of imprisonment or detention in State

(1)

A person who is sentenced to a term of imprisonment or period of detention in respect of an offence under the law of another participating jurisdiction may serve the sentence in a prison or detention centre in the State if the person has a connection with a cross‑border region.

(2)

A person may be kept in custody in a prison or detention centre of the State under subsection (1) for the period necessary to serve the sentence.

(3)

A person being kept in custody in a prison or detention centre under subsection (1) may be released from custody in accordance with the law of that other jurisdiction.
