54 Person taken into custody
Subsection (2) applies if —
a police officer of another participating jurisdiction (the arresting jurisdiction) arrests a person under the law of the arresting jurisdiction —
whether with or without a warrant; and
whether in the State or another participating jurisdiction;
and
the person has a connection with a cross‑border region.
A police officer of the arresting jurisdiction may —
keep the person in custody in the State; and
while the person is in custody, take the person to a police station, court or other place in the State for any purpose that is authorised under the law of the arresting jurisdiction as applied by its cross‑border laws.
The law of the State does not apply in relation to the custody.
