Dealing with objection
54G Dealing with objection
The objection is to be dealt with by the council of the local government or by a committee authorised by the council to deal with the objection.
A committee cannot deal with an objection against a decision that the committee made or a decision that the council made.
The person who made the objection is to be given a reasonable opportunity to make submissions on how to dispose of the objection.
The objection may be disposed of by —
dismissing the objection; or
varying the decision objected to; or
revoking the decision objected to, with or without substituting for it another decision.
The local government is to ensure that the person who made the objection is given notice in writing of how it has been decided to dispose of the objection and the reasons for disposing of it in that way.
