Authorised officers
61 Authorised officers
The State Emergency Coordinator may authorise persons to act as authorised officers during a state of emergency.
An authorisation under subsection (1) is to specify —
whether it applies to any state of emergency or is limited to a particular state of emergency; and
the particular, or a particular class of, person to whom it applies; and
the terms and conditions on which it is given.
An authorisation under subsection (1) may be given orally or in writing but if given orally is to be put in writing as soon as is practicable.
A failure to put an authorisation in writing under subsection (3) does not invalidate the authorisation or anything done under the authorisation.
An authorised officer may exercise a power under Part 6 only subject to the terms and conditions on which the person is authorised under this section.
An authorised officer is to comply with directions of the State Emergency Coordinator when exercising a power under Part 6.
