277 Offence of acquiring firearm or major firearm part with prohibited alteration: handgun or prohibited firearm
A person who acquires a handgun or prohibited firearm, or a major firearm part of a handgun or prohibited firearm, in contravention of section 232(1) commits a crime if a prohibited alteration has been made to the firearm or major firearm part, whether by the person or another person.
Penalty: imprisonment for 10 years.
Summary conviction penalty: imprisonment for 3 years and a fine of $36 000.
