urban — to provide for residential development and associated local employment, recreation and open space, shopping, schools and other community facilities;

urban deferred — to provide for land suitable for future urban development but where there are various planning, servicing and environmental requirements that need to be addressed before urban development can take place;

central city area — to provide for areas where commercial, civic, cultural, residential, service and administration serving the metropolitan region are located;

industrial — to provide for manufacturing industry, the storage and distribution of goods and associated uses;

special industrial — to provide for industry of State, regional, or strategic importance;

industrial deferred — to provide for land suitable for future industrial development but where there are various planning, servicing and environmental requirements that need to be addressed before industrial development can take place;

rural —

to provide for the sustainable use of land for agriculture; and

to assist in the conservation and wise use of natural resources, including water, flora, fauna and minerals; and

to provide a distinctive rural landscape setting for urban areas; and

to accommodate carefully planned rural living developments; and

to accommodate tourism in keeping with rural character, including, for example, farm stay accommodation, breweries and wineries;

rural — water protection — to control land use over public groundwater supplies to avoid contamination;

private recreation — to accommodate regionally significant open space and recreational activities in private use.
