235C Identity cards
The Commission must give an authorised officer an identity card.
The identity card must —
identify the person as an authorised officer; and
include a recent photograph of the authorised officer; and
state an expiry date for the card; and
include any other matter required by regulations for the purposes of this paragraph.
An authorised officer must —
if it is practicable to do so — before exercising any powers under section 235E in respect of any land, produce the officer’s identity card to an occupier of the land who is present (if any); and
otherwise carry the officer’s identity card when exercising any powers under section 235E and produce it upon any reasonable request.
If a person ceases to be an authorised officer, the person must, within 14 days after the day on which the person ceases to be an authorised officer, return to the Commission the identity card that the person was given.
A person commits an offence if, without reasonable excuse, the person fails to comply with subsection (4).
Penalty for this subsection: a fine of $5 000.
