This section applies if a rail safety officer reasonably believes that —
an activity is occurring in relation to railway operations or railway premises that involves or will involve an immediate risk to safety; or
an activity may occur in relation to railway operations or railway premises that, if it occurs, will involve an immediate risk to safety; or

The rail safety officer may issue a prohibition notice to a person who has, or appears to have, control over the activity prohibiting the carrying on of the activity, or the carrying on of the activity in a specified way, until a rail safety officer is satisfied that the matters that give or will give rise to the risk have been remedied.
A prohibition notice may be issued orally, but must be confirmed by written notice given to the person as soon as practicable.
