Veterinary Practice Act 2021

In this section —

an offence under this Act; or

an offence under a corresponding law; or

an offence under a law of another country that deals with the regulation of veterinary medicine (however described); or

an offence under an Act referred to in section 80(c); or

an indictable offence (whether or not the offence is or may be dealt with summarily) for which the penalty with which the offence is punishable on indictment is —

imprisonment for life; or

imprisonment for more than 1 year;

an offence arising out of the practice by a person of veterinary medicine or practice by a person as a veterinary nurse.

A person who is a veterinarian or veterinary nurse must, within 14 days after becoming aware that any of the following events has occurred in relation to the person, give notice of the event to the Board in accordance with section 69 —

a qualification that enabled the person to gain registration is withdrawn or cancelled by the body that conferred the qualification;

criminal proceedings are commenced against the person for a relevant offence;

any proceedings referred to in paragraph (b) are withdrawn, dismissed or determined by the court in which they were brought;

a finding that is the same as, or similar to, a finding of unprofessional conduct or professional misconduct is made against the person under a corresponding law or the law of another country that deals with the regulation of veterinary medicine (however described).

A veterinarian whose registration is affected by a decision of an interstate regulatory authority under section 20(1) or 23(1) must, within 14 days after becoming aware of the decision of the interstate regulatory authority, give notice of the decision to the Board in accordance with section 69.
