A provisional liquidator's disbursements cannot be determined as part of 'remuneration' under s473(2) of the Corporations Law; they must be dealt with separately under the provisional liquidator's right to indemnity. The onus is on the provisional liquidator to provide sufficiently detailed evidentiary material to enable the court to determine whether remuneration is fair and reasonable, and the court must make an independent assessment even in the absence of proper objections. Mere listing of persons, hours worked, and amounts claimed, without specifying who performed particular tasks, how long each task took, and the level of complexity involved, may be insufficient.
