The Court of Criminal Appeal has inherent power to revoke an order summarily dismissing an appeal where the merits of the appeal have not been considered at all, even after the order has been perfected. This power is distinct from the established exceptions for withdrawal of notices of abandonment and remedying procedural unfairness. Evidence of rehabilitation while unlawfully at large cannot support a submission that the original sentence was manifestly excessive, but may be given limited weight when the court resentences afresh.
