Sentences for perverting the course of justice and threatening witnesses involving a young offender (aged 17-19 at the time of offences) were upheld where the total effective sentence was approximately 3 years including a 15-month additional term. The commission of offences while on bail and the concatenation of offences were treated as significant aggravating factors. The youth of the offender, while relevant, did not render the sentences excessive given the objective seriousness of sustained witness intimidation that resulted in a miscarriage of justice at committal proceedings.
