The definition of 'unprofessional conduct or practice' in s 3B of the Queensland Law Society Act 1952 is not limited to conduct related to professional practice, by reason of s 3B(2). The Solicitors' Complaints Tribunal therefore has jurisdiction to hear complaints about criminal conduct unrelated to a practitioner's practice. There is concurrent jurisdiction in the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, but in the ordinary case proceedings before the Tribunal will be preferable.
