For sentencing in child abuse material possession offences, the relevant factors are the depravity of the material, the volume possessed, and the use to which it was put — not the occupation or social position of the offender or the means by which the material was acquired. The offender's position of trust is relevant to the fraud offences but should not be coalesced with the possession offences to aggravate them. Fines within the statutory range are not manifestly inadequate where the offender has no prior criminal history, has lost career and superannuation, and is unlikely to reoffend.
