Where a co-offender's sentence is excessively lenient but the appellant's sentence is appropriate and within range, the appellate court should not simply reduce the appellant's sentence to match the lenient one. Instead, the court should re-sentence the appellant, having regard to the co-offender's sentence and giving it only such weight as is appropriate in all the circumstances. This may result in a reduction that does not fully eliminate the disparity but addresses the justified sense of grievance while maintaining an appropriate sentence.
