Where a co-offender higher in the chain of drug distribution receives a substantially more lenient sentence, the parity principle requires reduction of the sentence on the lower-level offender even if that sentence is otherwise within range. The fact that a supplier sold to only one distributor is of no significance in assessing relative criminality. A sentence that offends the parity principle must be reduced even if otherwise devoid of specific error.
