Section 322(a) of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), as extended by s 3A, protects judicial proceedings 'of' New South Wales even when not 'in' the State (e.g., NSW courts sitting interstate), but does not extend to proceedings that are 'of' another State even where the threatening conduct occurs in NSW. The requirement that proceedings be 'of' NSW is a characterisation requirement, not a 'territorial consideration' within s 3A(1)(a). Separately, committal proceedings cannot give rise to an 'acquittal' for the purposes of s 324.
