For dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, a fully suspended sentence is within range where the offender is extremely young (17), has no criminal history, alcohol is not involved, the offender pleaded guilty, rendered immediate assistance to the victim, and showed genuine remorse. The sentencing court must give sufficient weight to these mitigating factors, and failure to do so constitutes an error of principle warranting appellate intervention.
