For possession of methylamphetamine in excess of 2 grams where the quantity is only marginally above the schedule amount, the drugs are for personal use, and there is an early plea, the appropriate head sentence is in the range of 12 to 18 months' imprisonment. A head sentence of 2½ years for 2.711 grams of pure methylamphetamine (0.711 grams above the schedule amount) was manifestly excessive in those circumstances.
