Where co-offenders receive identical sentences, a justifiable sense of grievance may arise where there are significant differences in criminal history, role in the offending, time on remand, age, and circumstances of pleas. A sentencing judge is not bound by the Crown's concession as to an offender's lesser role, but a finding adverse to the offender on that point requires a strong degree of satisfaction.
