A jury verdict of murder may be sustained where the prosecution case depends on multiple drug-affected witnesses with significant internal inconsistencies, provided there is a core of consistency across the independent accounts and the mutually reinforcing effect of the evidence, combined with the accused's own admissions, is capable of supporting the conviction. Fresh evidence that undermines parts of a witness's testimony already found to be unreliable does not raise a significant possibility of acquittal where other sufficient evidence supports the verdict.
