An offender's involvement in encouraging co-operation by others constitutes co-operation within s 16A(2)(h) of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth), but the offender's limited personal role in providing the assistance is a relevant factor that tempers the discount. A sentence of 12 years (NPP 8 years) for importing approximately 22 kg of high-purity methylamphetamine, where the offenders had senior responsible roles and provided limited indirect assistance, was within the legitimate exercise of sentencing discretion.
