A sentencing judge is entitled to require more than a mere assertion of fact from the Bar table before accepting a mitigatory factor, particularly regarding the offender's role in the offending. The test for manifest excess remains whether the sentence is wholly outside the range of sentencing options available, not whether some other sentence could have been imposed.
