Serious injury to an applicant's children, combined with evidence that the applicant's spouse is bearing an intolerable burden as sole carer, can constitute sufficient cause to justify release on bail for a show cause offence. The availability of community support services may be relevant but insufficient doubt about eligibility for such services will not defeat the showing of cause. Strict bail conditions including house arrest, curfew enforcement, and a substantial surety can address unacceptable risk concerns even where the applicant has OMCG affiliations and faces a strong prosecution case for commercial drug supply.
