The short duration of sexual offending remains of limited significance to the assessment of objective seriousness. Where multiple sexual offences arise from a single episode but involve separate and distinct instances of offending, partial accumulation rather than complete concurrency is appropriate. Favourable subjective circumstances, including good character, prospects of rehabilitation, and low risk of reoffending, do not displace the need for a sentence reflecting the objective gravity of sexual offences committed by a parent against a child in the home environment.
