A sentence of immediate imprisonment may be appropriate for possession of a small quantity of cannabis (5.46 grams) with intent to sell or supply where the offender is a commercial dealer, even though such quantities are typically dealt with in the Magistrates Court. The one transaction rule does not preclude cumulation of sentences for contemporaneous offences involving different illicit drugs where cumulation is necessary to reflect total criminality.
