When assessing parity between co-offenders who have received different discounts for assistance, comparison of undiscounted indicative sentences is an important tool because comparison of discounted figures is apt to mislead. The most important considerations remain the actual sentences imposed and the charges to which guilty pleas were entered, rather than the underlying offending or indicative sentences. A sentencing judge's recommendation for residential rehabilitation on release is not a material distinguishing feature for parity purposes where both co-offenders have similar drug addiction issues and similar recommendations were made.
