The County Court sentenced the offender to a total effective sentence of five years and five months' imprisonment with a non-parole period of three years and three months for 31 charges including armed robbery, burglary, theft and obtaining property by deception. The Court accepted Verdins limb 5 applied in relation to PTSD symptoms moderating the weight given to specific deterrence, but rejected limb 6, finding no evidence that imprisonment posed a serious risk of significant adverse effect on mental health. The Court assessed the offender's prospects of rehabilitation as guarded given longstanding heroin addiction and relevant criminal history, and declared under s 6AAA that but for the guilty plea the sentence would have been seven years and six months with a five year and six month non-parole period.
