42 Offences—doctor’s certificate
A person commits an offence if—
the coroner must hold an inquest into the manner and cause of death of a deceased person under the Coroners Act 1997; and
the person—
is a doctor; and
gives a certificate about the death of the deceased person under a territory law.
Maximum penalty: 10 penalty units.
The Coroners Act 1997, s 13 states when a coroner must hold an inquest into the manner and cause of death of a person.
A person commits an offence if the person—
is a doctor; and
gives a certificate about the death of a deceased person under a territory law; and
knows that—
the person has a financial interest in the deceased person’s death under a life insurance policy; or
the person has a right or expectancy to property of any kind on the deceased person’s death.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.
In this section:
doctor includes a doctor who is a medical referee.
