14 Attendance of child at R 18+ film—offence by exhibitor
A person commits an offence if—
the person exhibits a film in a public place; and
the film is classified R 18+; and
a child is present during any part of the exhibition.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.
Strict liability applies to subsection (1) (b).
Absolute liability applies to the circumstance that the person present is a child.
It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against this section if the defendant proves that—
the child produced to the defendant acceptable proof of age before the child was admitted to the public place; and
the defendant believed, on reasonable grounds, that the child was an adult.
