Special fixture
1326 Special fixture
At the listing hearing, a proceeding may be set down by the court for trial as a special fixture if—
for a proceeding in the Supreme Court—a party to the proceeding or the court estimates the trial will be 5 days or longer; or
for a proceeding in the Magistrates Court—a party to the proceeding or the court estimates the trial will be 3 days or longer; or
the court has already ordered that the trial be expedited or listed as a special fixture.
If a proceeding is set down for trial as a special fixture, the court may—
allocate a judicial officer (the trial judicial officer) for the trial; and
set a date for a directions hearing before—
the trial judicial officer; or
if the trial judicial officer is a judge who is not a resident judge—a resident judge (the nominated judicial officer).
If the court allocates a trial judicial officer for the trial, the trial judicial officer or nominated judicial officer must—
hear any application in the proceeding or application for directions in the proceeding before the trial; and
monitor compliance with any directions given in the proceeding.
