2506 Contempt—punishment
This rule applies if the court decides that a person has committed a contempt.
If the person is an individual, the court may punish the individual by making an order that may be made under the Crimes (Sentencing) Act 2005.
If the person is a corporation, the court may punish the corporation by seizing corporation property or a fine or both.
Without limiting subrule (2), the court may make an order for punishment on conditions, including, for example, a suspension of punishment during good behaviour, with or without the respondent giving security satisfactory to the court for good behaviour.
Without limiting subrule (2), if the person is imprisoned for a term, the court may order the person’s release from imprisonment before the end of the term.
