167 Definitions for pt 11
In this part:
Antarctica means—
the Australian Antarctic Territory; or
the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands; or
Macquarie Island.
assistant returning officer, in relation to a station, means the assistant returning officer appointed under section 168 in relation to the station.
research personnel means personnel who are to be, or have been, engaged in work at a station.
returning officer, in relation to a station, means the returning officer appointed under section 168 in relation to the station.
station means—
a research station in Antarctica that is operated by the Commonwealth and is declared by the commissioner, in writing, to be a permanent research station; or
in relation to a particular election, a ship that is declared by the commissioner, in writing, to be a station for this part in relation to the election.
transmit means transmit by fax or in another way approved under section 167B.
