If there is only 1 candidate in relation to a casual vacancy, the commissioner shall declare the candidate elected.

If there is more than 1 candidate in relation to a casual vacancy, the commissioner must, after making a declaration under section 193 (1) (a), conduct the recount in accordance with schedule 4, part 4.3.

The recount must be conducted, as far as practicable, at the time and place stated for the recount in the notice under section 191 (2).

The commissioner shall declare elected the successful candidate ascertained in accordance with schedule 4, part 4.3.

This Act applies, so far as practicable, to a recount under subsection (2) as if it were a scrutiny under part 12.
