25 Application for sports bookmaking licence

(1)

A corporation may apply to the commission for a sports bookmaking licence.

(2)

The application must—

(a)

be in writing; and

(b)

state the name and business address of the corporation; and

(c)

state the period for which the licence is sought; and

(d)

include a suitability authorisation for each director of the corporation; and

(e)

if required under subsection (3)—include a suitability authorisation for any influential shareholder of the corporation; and

(f)

be approved by each director of the corporation; and

(g)

include anything else prescribed by regulation.

(3)

The commission may, in writing, require the corporation to provide a suitability authorisation for an influential shareholder of the corporation.

(4)

The commission must not decide the application until the commission has received and considered a police report about the corporation’s directors and any influential shareholder for whom a suitability authorisation has been required under subsection (3).

(5)

In this section:

suitability authorisation, for a person, means a written authorisation by the person authorising a police officer to make inquiries, and make a written report to the commission, about the character, and any criminal record, of the person.
