Application for sports bookmaking licence
25 Application for sports bookmaking licence
A corporation may apply to the commission for a sports bookmaking licence.
The application must—
be in writing; and
state the name and business address of the corporation; and
state the period for which the licence is sought; and
include a suitability authorisation for each director of the corporation; and
if required under subsection (3)—include a suitability authorisation for any influential shareholder of the corporation; and
be approved by each director of the corporation; and
include anything else prescribed by regulation.
The commission may, in writing, require the corporation to provide a suitability authorisation for an influential shareholder of the corporation.
The commission must not decide the application until the commission has received and considered a police report about the corporation’s directors and any influential shareholder for whom a suitability authorisation has been required under subsection (3).
In this section:
suitability authorisation, for a person, means a written authorisation by the person authorising a police officer to make inquiries, and make a written report to the commission, about the character, and any criminal record, of the person.
