34 Identity cards
The director-general must give an identity card to an authorised officer appointed under section 32 (1).
The identity card must show—
the authorised officer’s name or a unique identification number; and
a statement that the person is an authorised officer; and
a recent photograph of the officer; and
the card’s date of issue and expiry; and
anything else prescribed by regulation.
A person must return their identity card to the director-general within 7 days after the day the person stops being an authorised officer.
Maximum penalty: 1 penalty unit.
An offence against this section is a strict liability offence.
Subsection (3) does not apply to a person if their identity card is—
lost or stolen; or
destroyed by someone else.
Note The defendant has an evidential burden in relation to the matters mentioned in s (5) (see Criminal Code, s 58).
