86 Functions of commissioner
The commissioner has the following functions under this Act:
to manage and administer the scheme for the provision of financial assistance to victims;
to receive applications for financial assistance and funeral expense payment;
to decide applications for financial assistance and funeral expense payment;
to pay amounts for financial assistance;
to pay amounts for funeral expense payment;
to administer repayment and recovery processes in relation to financial assistance and funeral expense payment;
to review certain decisions.
Note A provision of a law that gives an entity (including a person) a function also gives the entity powers necessary and convenient to exercise the function (see Legislation Act, s 196 and dict, pt 1, def entity).
The functions of the commissioner under this Act are additional to the functions of the commissioner under the Victims of Crime Act 1994, section 11.
