12 Vacation of office by Presiding Officer

(1)

A person holding office as Presiding Officer vacates the office:

(a)

immediately before a Presiding Officer is elected at the first meeting of the Assembly after a general election;

(b)

when the person resigns office as Presiding Officer;

(c)

when the person ceases to be a member of the Assembly (not because of a general election); or

(d)

when an absolute majority of the members of the Assembly vote in favour of the person’s removal from office.

(2)

A person who has vacated the office of Presiding Officer may be re‑elected.
