15 Minister may give directions

(1)

Subject to subsection (3), the Minister may give written directions to the Authority as to the performance of its functions and the exercise of its powers and the Authority must comply with those directions.

(2)

The Minister must cause:

(a)

a copy of a direction given under subsection (1); and

(b)

a written statement of the reasons for giving the direction;

to be laid before each House of the Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after the direction is given.

(3)

The Minister must consult with the Forum on Food Regulation before he or she gives a direction under subsection (1).

(4)

This section does not affect the application of section 22 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (which deals with the application of government policy to corporate Commonwealth entities) in relation to the Authority.

(5)

A direction given under subsection (1) is not a legislative instrument.
