18 Appointment of Board members
Board members are to be appointed by the Minister by written instrument, on a part‑time basis.
A person is not eligible for appointment as a Board member unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has appropriate qualifications, skills or experience in one or more of the following:
banking and finance;
law;
housing (including social or affordable housing);
housing for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people;
infrastructure planning and financing;
local government;
public policy;
an area of expertise prescribed by the rules.
In appointing Board members, the Minister must ensure that:
the Board members collectively have an appropriate balance of qualifications, skills or experience in the fields mentioned in subsection (2); and
at least one Board member has appropriate qualifications, skills or experience in social or affordable housing.
