Industrial Chemicals Environmental Management (Register) Act 2021

Each Advisory Committee member is to be appointed by the Minister by written instrument, on a part‑time basis.

An Advisory Committee member may be reappointed: see section 33AA of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.

An Advisory Committee member holds office for the period specified in the instrument of appointment. The period must not exceed 5 years.

A person is not eligible for appointment as an Advisory Committee member unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has substantial experience or knowledge, and significant standing, in any of the following fields:

industrial chemistry;

ecotoxicology;

environmental risk management;

environmental health;

human toxicology;

applied socio‑economic analysis;

ecology;

chemical regulation;

environmental regulation;

any other appropriate field of expertise.

In appointing the Advisory Committee members, the Minister must ensure that the Advisory Committee members collectively possess an appropriate balance of experience or knowledge in the fields mentioned in subsection (3).
