229 Precautions against falsification of credit books
Requirement to take precautions against falsification
(1)
A person who is required by this Act to keep a credit book must take reasonable steps to:
(a)
guard against the falsification of the credit book; and
(b)
facilitate the discovery of any falsification of the credit book.
Civil penalty: 5,000 penalty units.
Offence
(2)
A person commits an offence if:
(a)
the person is subject to a requirement under subsection (1); and
(b)
the person engages in conduct; and
(c)
the conduct contravenes the requirement.
Criminal penalty: 6 months imprisonment.
