254 Appointment of inspectors
AMSA may, in writing, appoint any of the following as an inspector:
an officer or employee of an agency of the Commonwealth;
an officer or employee of an agency of a State or Territory.
An inspector may exercise all of the powers of an inspector under this Act, or such of those powers as are specified in the inspector’s instrument of appointment.
AMSA must not appoint a person as an inspector unless AMSA is satisfied that the person has suitable qualifications or experience to properly exercise the powers of an inspector.
AMSA must not appoint an officer or employee of an agency of a State or Territory as an inspector without the agreement of the State or Territory.
In exercising his or her powers or performing his or her functions as an inspector, an inspector must comply with any direction of AMSA.
