45 Regulator may appoint WELS inspectors

(1)

The Regulator may, by writing, appoint any of the following as a WELS inspector:

(a)

an officer or employee of an agency of the Commonwealth;

(b)

an officer or employee of an agency of a State or Territory.

(2)

However, the Regulator must not appoint an officer or employee of an agency of a State or Territory as a WELS inspector without the agreement of the State or Territory.

(3)

In exercising his or her powers or performing his or her functions a WELS inspector must comply with any direction of the Regulator.

Note:

Part 7.8 of the Criminal Code provides offences in relation to causing harm to, and impersonation and obstruction of, Commonwealth public officials.
