46 Identity cards
The Regulator must issue an identity card to each WELS inspector.
The identity card must:
be in the form prescribed by the regulations; and
contain a recent photograph of the WELS inspector.
A person commits an offence if:
the person has been issued with an identity card; and
the person ceases to be a WELS inspector; and
the person does not return the identity card to the Regulator as soon as practicable.
Penalty: 1 penalty unit.
A WELS inspector must carry his or her identity card at all times when exercising powers or performing functions as a WELS inspector.
A WELS inspector is not entitled to exercise any powers under this Part in relation to premises if:
the occupier of the premises has required the WELS inspector to produce his or her identity card for inspection by the occupier; and
the WELS inspector fails to comply with the requirement.
