4 Application to be sports controlling body
A person or body may apply to the Minister to be prescribed as the sports controlling body for a sporting event.
The application must—
be in the form approved by the Minister, and
specify the sporting event to which the application relates, and
be accompanied by the fee specified in Schedule 2, Part 1, Item 1.
The Minister may request further information from the applicant for the purposes of assessing the application.
The Minister must consider the following when assessing the application—
if the applicant is the most appropriate person or body to be the sports controlling body for the sporting event,
the degree of the applicant’s control over the organisation of the event,
how the applicant intends to ensure betting services are conducted responsibly and with integrity,
the applicant’s level of experience in managing sporting events,
the public interest.
