17 Wildlife refuges and conservation agreements under NPW Act
After the commencement of the new Act, a wildlife refuge cannot be declared under section 68 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
After the commencement of the new Act, a conservation agreement cannot be entered into under section 69B of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 if the agreement is for a purpose referred to in section 69C (1) (e) or (e2) of that Act (or in section 69C (1) (e3) in relation to a purpose referred to in section 69C (1) (e) or (e2)). However, the Minister may enter into any such conservation agreement after the commencement of the new Act if satisfied that the proposed agreement was in preparation on the commencement of the new Act.
Division 13 of Part 4 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 (Offences relating to wildlife refuges and conservation areas) does not apply to offences committed after the commencement of the new Act within a wildlife refuge or land subject to a conservation agreement under that Act.
