178 Communicating with prisoner
A person commits an offence if the person:
is a visitor at a custodial correctional facility; and
communicates with a prisoner; and
does not have the consent of the General Manager to do so.
Maximum penalty: 200 penalty units or imprisonment for 2 years.
Strict liability applies to subsection (1)(a).
Subsection (1) does not apply if:
(a) the person is a priority visitor and the communication relates to the performance by the visitor of the visitor's official functions; or
(b) the person is the prisoner's legal practitioner and the communication is subject to client legal privilege.
